Creating a Better Version of Ourselves

Greatest day of his 9yr old life....

This weekend I had the awesome opportunity to take my son to the Astros' Fan Fest event. We went with high expectations, and we weren't disappointed.

My son created his dream board so he could speak his future into existence, and on his board he talks about being a first round draft pick and play in the MLB as a "lefty" pitcher like Justin Verlander.

SIDEBAR-I believe in teaching from a young age that our words are powerful, so at 5yrs old, my son began to say his declarations every morning, and regardless of what "Higher or Omnipotent" Power you believe in (I personally believe in God), the art of sowing and reaping is a viable fact.  Any seed placed in the ground will bear fruit, veggies, flowers etc.  Our words have the power to do the same thing, but you must be careful with the type of ground and how you cultivate, but that's for another blog.

Back to the lecture at hand.

We took my son's glove, ball, he wore his Astros jersey and hat in hopes of getting the autograph of his favorite pitcher.  My son and I both have ADHD, are very impatient plus we hate long lines, so when we saw the line for autographs, it wasn't bad, but they had a player signing that we didn't even know.  We stood in line anyway because my inner voice told me to wait.  We moved closer and they changed out to ANOTHER player that we didn't know. By this time, my son and I, my sister, niece and everybody else in line were starting to get frustrated!

Then we got wind of exciting news! Verlander was coming at 1pm.

Now, I was a little skeptical because it was 12:30p and Verlander was on the screen doing a live interview 😒🤔, but we waited....and waited...and waited.  Sure enough, at 1:03p, our waiting paid off. VERLANDER WAS IN THE BUILDING and we were about 15 people back in line!  My kid was TOTS excited!

I am by no means star struck because celebrities are regular people too they just stepped into their gifts and blessings earlier than anyone else, but I was ecstatic for my kiddo because he wants to be a great MLB pitcher like Verlander and this was the person we came to see!

He was able to meet him and get his hat autographed, so he has a keepsake, but most importantly, this created a memorable moment that we can look back on.

I leave you with this thought...we are entrepreneurs, creatives, business women, homemakers, but first and foremost...we are mommies. Our kiddos may not remember anything we teach them, say to them, speak into them, but they will remember the time that we spend with them.  Make sure that you don't miss out on their childhood.  Try to find awesome, out the box things to do with them at least twice a month.  It doesn't have to be expensive because the little things do count.

We are planning a trip to Walt Disney World this summer and New York for the winter which are common, but I also created a travel bucket list for us, so he can get a bigger vision for life and be well traveled. I suggest all parents make a travel bucket list.  You can start small with places near your home city or ball out. The point is to get out and show your kiddos more than just the park down the street.

Spring Things we love.....

Who doesn't love valentines days, pretty roses, boxes of tempting chocolates in that red heart-shaped box, romantic dinner for two or jewelry. Sure, that's the dream that we have and it's great when you're in a relationship, but for those of us that are not boo'd up, don't worry, you don't have to sit at home watching Netflix and...

Are you too glam to be professional or to professional to be glam? Does your office décor scream professional or glamourous?
